Steven Gabel, MD, FACS is a full-time hair restoration surgeon in Portland, Oregon, USA. He completed a residency in Head and Neck Surgery, followed by a fellowship in Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology, the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has been practicing hair restoration surgery since 2001 utilizing both strip and FUE donor harvest techniques. His first documented FUE case was in 2004 using the manual harvest technique and since has used several motorized devices for his cases.
Dr. Gabel has written numerous articles and book chapters in hair restoration surgery and was the editor of a textbook titled, “Hair Restoration Surgery” published by the Facial Plastic Clinics of North America in 2013. He has participated as a faculty member in several conferences and was the Director of the Basics Course for the 2018 ISHRS General Meeting in Hollywood, California. Dr. Gabel is a Fellow in the ISHRS, a diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS), a member of the Board of Directors of the ABHRS and was presented with the prestigious James Arnold Award for the highest scores on the written portion of the board examination in 2017.
